While becoming more familiar with Toku DB and trying different cloud solutions I ran into a minor issue installing Toku DB on a Google Cloud VM instance but explain how to resolve easily below.
Toku DB Install On Google Cloud VM Instance: First My SQL Service Start Fails If you receive the below error on the initial attempt to start My SQL after installing Toku DB the issue is likely related to the kernel having transparent_hugepage enabled.
[email protected] [~]# rm /var/lock/subsys/mysql rm: remove regular empty file `/var/lock/subsys/mysql’? ————————— In this case check the My SQL process and kill it.
y ————————— [email protected] [~]# /etc/init.d/mysql restart ERROR! In this case there is no more My SQL process, so I need to check the My SQL log.
When we run two programs, there are variables unique to each programs, unlike the shared libraries, these are in separate data space of each process, and usually can't be shared. In other words, a process has its own stack space, used for local variables.Error Starting Toku DB My SQL: As you can see in the error above My SQL fails to start and notes that the file was not created. This is a fairly generic error so more investigation should be completed. In the Toku DB data directory you will find a file that is prefaced by the server name.
